Nina Gaponyuk (Ніна Володимирівна Гапонюк), a former member of the Ukrainian Bible Baptist Church of Spartanburg, South Carolina, died on April 2, 2025, of a stroke.
She was 84 years old.
Sister Gaponyuk came to America from Ukraine with her husband in March 1992.
They also had lived in Maryland and Florida.
Condolences are expressed to her husband, Nikolay; two daughters, a son, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and other relatives.
A funeral service was held Saturday, April 5, at Wayside Baptist Church in Wellford, South Carolina.

A 16-year battle with cancer ended January 31, 2025, for Eugene Makovetskiy (Євген Маковецький), a member of the Ukrainian Baptist Church of Chicago.
Brother Makovetskiy, who was born in Kyiv, Ukraine, was 44 years old. He immigrated to America with his parents and siblings on April 14, 1992.
Eugene studied business information systems at DeVry University, and he worked as a strategy product manager for IAA.
Zhenya (Женя) married Katerina Tenenika from Ohio on April 1, 2006.
Brother Makovetskiy often traveled to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, for treatment. He eventually lost his right eye.
His father is the assistant pastor of the Ukrainian Baptist Church of Chicago.
Condolences are expressed for his wife, Katerina; their children, Natalie and Danny; his parents, Aleksandr and Larisa; a sister, Vera; a brother, Paul; and other relatives.
Visitation will be held Saturday, February 8, 2025, at 9:30 a.m. at the Ukrainian Baptist Church, 6751 Riverside Drive, Berwyn, Illinois.
The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. Interment will be in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 1400 S. Wolf Road, Hillside, Illinois.
Claudia Logwin (nee Nazaruk - Назарук), a former member of the Ukrainian Baptist Church in Chicago, died on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.
She was 91 years old. Mrs. Logwin will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul.
Claudia Nazaruk was born in Argentina and came to Chicago in 1969.
Sister Claudia married Walter Logwin on May 3, 1975, in Chicago. The men's choir of the Ukrainian Baptist Church sang at the wedding. Afterward, the newlyweds moved to Walter's farm outside Neillsville, Wisconsin.
After her husband died in 2019, Sister Claudia moved back to Illinois and lived with her niece Becky and Becky's husband, Neal.
Condolences are expressed to her brother, Bruno Nazaruk, many nieces and nephews and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held at Living Hope Evangelical Free Church in Neillsville, on Saturday, July 5, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in the nearby Town of Grant Cemetery.
